Relief when it matters.

The AIC leadership recognizes the extraordinary time our community is facing, and the Center will be flexible enough to provide relief efforts that include food distribution, financial relief, gardening resources, and cultural relief.

AIC Mutual Aid Program

The American Indian Center has developed the American Indian Center Mutual Aid Program (AICMAP) as the community is facing food, culture, and aid insecurities. The program is a conduit between local and national programs to serve the community at this time.

Online Form

The AIC through the AICFDP is helping to provide relief and mutual aid to community members. To determine these areas of need, please fill out the American Indian Center COVID-19 Mutual Aid form.

Use of Information

The AICMAP will use this information strictly to help with our mutual aid services.

AIC Food Distribution Program

The American Indian Center (AIC) has developed the American Indian Center Food Distribution Program as the community is facing food and aid insecurities. The program is a conduit between national and local programs to serve the community at this time.

Greater Chicago Food Depository

Over the past few weeks, AIC has developed a partnership with the Greater Chicago Food Depository and is offering food boxes for pick-up to community members.

Schedule

Food distribution will occur every Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the American Indian Center building, and there will be limited contact pick-up.

Please check this page and our calendar to find out about special programming or changes in the program.

Location

Community members will line-up on Kimball Avenue using the designated markings on the sidewalk that ensures at least six (6) feet of separation at all times.

Donations

The AIC welcomes donations to supplement food box distribution. Please contact us with details regarding the type of contribution, delivery, and scheduling.

Chicago American Indian Community Collaborative (CAICC)

The Chicago American Indian Community Collaborative (CAICC) convenes organizational leaders and members of the Chicago American Indian community for dialogue, advocacy, and planning to empower CAICC and address the American Indian community’s issues and needs.

CAICC is also leading relief efforts, families and individuals can sign up for CAICC mutual aid efforts.

Greater Chicago Food Depository

The Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD) provides shelf-stable food boxes to AIC for distribution.

Feed Chicago

Feed Chicago works with Chicago restaurants and provides hot meals for distribution to the American Indian community.

Meals are distributed at least once a month, with information regarding distribution will be sent out via email, and phone calls made to community members.

The Chi-Nations Youth Council (CNYC) is an autonomous Native youth group that has been contributing fresh produce to supplement food boxes.

The American Indian Center (AIC) has developed the Financial Relief Funding as the community is facing food and aid insecurities.

Partnerships

AIC has partnered with the Stand Together Foundation to launch #GiveTogetherNow, a rapid-response campaign to get cash directly to families who need it the most. Using a randomizer tool, members who are not directly related to staff or Board members are eligible for one time $500 relief payments.

Codes

Codes are distributed when the Foundation provides them to AIC. Keep checking in for more information on future codes.
