WELCOME TO INDIGIFEST 2025

Come hungry for food, art, and connection—leave full in every way. Indigifest is more than a festival; it’s a living expression of Indigenous cultures from around the world, right here in Chicago. All day long, the park will be alive with music, dance, and flavors that tell stories stretching across generations. You’ll find yourself sampling delicious dishes, meeting incredible makers, and feeling the rhythm of performances that invite you to listen, learn, and celebrate. Whether you stay for an hour or the whole day, you’ll be part of something meaningful, joyful, and unforgettable.

What Is Indigifest?

Indigifest begins with the heartbeat of a drum, steady and alive. From that first note, the day becomes a bridge between past and future, between this land and Indigenous homelands across the globe.

Led by the American Indian Center, Chicago’s oldest Native-led organization, Indigifest is rooted in the understanding that as the Indigenous people of this land, we carry the responsibility to guide the conversation on Turtle Island about what Indigeneity means, what it has endured, and where it is going. In a city built on Native land, where Indigenous presence is often overlooked, this festival is an unapologetic reminder that we are still here.

Indigeneity is not one story. Around the world, first peoples carry different languages, traditions, and landscapes, yet share a history of resilience in the face of colonization and cultural erasure. Recognizing and celebrating global Indigenous cultures affirms that our struggles and our strengths are connected. We learn from one another’s survival, creativity, and vision for the future.

Indigifest is where those connections take form. Drumbeats carry across the park. The smell of traditional foods blends with the laughter of children. Elders share memories while artists bring new visions to life. It is a day for Native and non-Native people alike to witness, listen, and take part in a celebration that affirms we are still creating, still protecting, and still shaping the world we share.

Come, listen, dance, and share a meal with us. Leave knowing that the story of this land is still being written, and you are part of it.

Indigifest is a free, public celebration led by the American Indian Center in partnership with the Chicago Park District’s Night Out in the Parks program. Set in Jackson Park’s Grove 6B, with the Museum of Science and Industry as its backdrop, the festival runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and features seven performances by Indigenous groups representing first peoples from around the world.

Between performances, explore the park and discover food vendors serving both traditional and contemporary flavors, artisan booths offering beadwork, prints, and handmade goods, and information tables from community organizations. Families can enjoy activities for all ages, from children’s art stations to cultural demonstrations. The event is family-friendly and wheelchair accessible.

Indigifest is more than a day of entertainment. It is a space where cultural exchange, community connection, and Indigenous leadership come together. Whether you stay for an hour or the entire day, you’ll be part of a gathering that celebrates resilience, creativity, and the ongoing story of Indigenous peoples in Chicago and beyond.
