Dee Logan is an enrolled member of the Oneida Nation and is Bear Clan. Her real name is Yakostalan which translates into She Wears Beads. Her name was given to her by the late Marie Hinton. She has a Master’s degree in Special Education from Northeastern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois -Chicago. She has worked in the education field as a teacher or administrator for the last thirty years. She worked for the Bureau of Indian Education and had the opportunity to travel through-out Indian Country providing educational services.  She was the Director of the Institute for Native American Development (INAD) at Truman College and also worked as a teacher at Truman Alternative High School.
