Prairie Band Potawatomi
Monica Rickert-Bolter is African-American, German, and an enrolled member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation. She is a visual artist, writer, copyeditor, and researcher with nearly a decade of nonprofit experience.
Monica is passionate about working with Native communities and organizations and strives to ensure Native representation in the broader Chicago community. As the former Title VII program’s cultural resource specialist, she worked with families, Chicago Public Schools’ curriculum writers, and the Chicago American Indian Community Collaborative.
Her artistic works include serving as the Potawatomi representation in The Floating Museum’s Founders project, illustrating children’s books, concept design for Smyles Creative, and graphic design for nationwide Native nonprofit organizations.
